What To Say When You Get To The Emergency Department

When you get to the hospital, you must clearly identify the nature and severity of your problem.

FOR A SEVERE ASTHMA REPORT :

  • Any recent steroid therapy
  • The frequency of use of short-acting beta-agonist bronchodilators either by MDIs or nebulized treatments
  • Peak flow meter measurements
  • Any recent admission to the hospital or treatment in the emergency department
  • Prior intensive care treatment of an allergic reaction or asthma
  • If you have an asthma action plan, be sure to bring it to the emergency department with you
