Email Linda Ford, M.D.

Dr. Linda Ford founded The Asthma and Allergy Center in 1979 and has become a well-known and respected member of the Omaha Metro community, as well as the national medical community. She is a pioneer in the fields of asthma, allergy and immunological disorder research and is principal investigator for hundreds of clinical studies that brought many of today's asthma and allergy medicines into the hands of patients in need.

Dr. Ford, a physician of Allergy and Immunology, served as the 93 rd national president of the American Lung Association (1998-1999), sat on the Board of Directors and Council of the American Lung Association (ALA) 1987-2000, is a past president of the American Medical Association Foundation and is also a member and president of the Board of Directors of the American Lung Association of Nebraska.

She represents Nebraska physicians in the House of Delegates of the American Medical Association, serving as the Nebraska delegation's chair. She sits on Nebraska Medical Association's House of Delegates and Board of Directors; Metro Omaha Medical Society's Board of Directors and was the first Medical Director for the Sarpy/Cass County Department of Health and Wellness and served on their Board of Directors.

Dr. Ford actively promotes lung disease education among children. She was a founding member and Chairman for the Consortium of Asthma Camps from 1994-1996, served as the first Chairperson for The National Asthma Educators Certification Board, spearheading quality asthma education throughout the country.

Because of her interest in what exacerbates her patients' asthma, she also chaired The American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology's Aerobiology Committee. Her commitment to finding a cure for asthma led to her participation as co-chair of the American Lung Association's Major Gifts Campaign, “ASTHMATTACK!”, supporting basic science and regional asthma centers.

She has written numerous articles related to asthma and allergic disease for both professional and general public audiences. Her writing includes disease management protocols for asthma and she also helped author the American Lung Association's Family Guide to Asthma and Allergies.

Dr. Ford also sits on The Advisory Board to Camp Fire , Omaha Asthma Alliance Board, Medical Advisory Board to the Omaha Public Schools, and is the Vice President of the National Community Health Charities ( CHAD in Nebraska ).

Dr. Ford received her medical degree at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Her internship was at the Jewish Hospital Washington University, residency in Internal Medicine at St. Louis University and Fellowship in Allergy and Immunology at Creighton University College of Medicine.

James L. Sullivan, M.D., Research Director

James Sullivan M.D. is the Director of Clinical Research for The Asthma and Allergy Center . Dr. Sullivan began his medical career in the United States Air Force (USAF) and is board-certified in Family Medicine with significant experience in immunological clinical research. Dr. Sullivan is dedicated to the cause of medical research, improving healthcare technology and therapies, and is an ardent patient advocate. He served in the USAF as Medical Director and Clinic Chief of numerous outpatient clinics at Sheppard AFB, TX and Offutt AFB, NE. He also served as teaching staff and adjunct professor in the combined USAF/University of Nebraska Medical Center Family Medicine Residency Program. His service and work as a physician have earned him numerous awards, such as Air Combat Command 2007 Physician of the Year, Resident Teacher of the Year, Air Force Meritorious Service Medal for excellence as a Medical Director, and the Joint Service Commendation Medal for work as a diplomatic physician advisor to the Iraqi Minister of Health and Minister of Defense.

Dr. Sullivan is a graduate of University of Minnesota Medical School, Minneapolis (2001) and completed his residency at Ehrling Bergquist Clinic/University of Nebraska Medical Center , Omaha NE (2004). He is a diplomat to The American Board of Family Practice, an active member of The American Academy of Family Physicians, the Nebraska Academy of Family Physicians, and the Metro Omaha Medical Society. Dr. Sullivan is currently serving in the USAF Reserves.

Prior to his medical career, Dr. Sullivan was a Naval Aviator, F-14 Strike-Fighter Pilot and also holds a B.S. in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering from University of Illinois , Champaign-Urbana , IL (1988).

Brooke K. Luenenborg, PA-C

Brooke Luenenborg, PA-C, is a certified Physician Assistant and has been with The Asthma and Allergy Center since 2003. During that time she has provided excellent patient care and monitored numerous clinical studies. She holds a B.S. from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln (2000) and holds her M.S. Physician Assistant from Finch University/Chicago Medical School (2003). She is also an active member of The American Academy of Physician Assistants and The Nebraska Academy of Physician Assistants.

 

Ronald L. Loker, PA-C

Ronald Loker, PA has been with The Asthma and Allergy Center since 1989. He has been providing care for the families of the Omaha Metro area for nearly 20 years and improving the health of those with asthma, allergies and other immunological disorders.

He also successfully completed dozens of clinical research studies that brought new medicines and technologies to patients in need.

Mr. Loker is a Physician Assistant and holds a B.S. from the University of Nebraska College of Medicine in Omaha (1977). Prior to his work at The Asthma and Allergy Center , he served as a PA in the USAF from 1975-1988.
