Asthma is a chronic lung disease that affects approximately 20 million Americans. Asthma is characterized by inflammation of the airways that takes air to the lungs. The inflammation makes the airways smaller, therefore making it more difficult for air to move in and out of the lungs.
Allergies and Asthma may be causing your child to suffer. Untreated asthma and allergies can have a profoundly negative impact on your child's life at school. When these disorders are ignored they often lead to illness, difficulty breathing, poor concentration, irritability, sleepiness, fatigue and other conditions that can cause a child to miss school, lose focus in the classroom, fall behind physically and academically, or act out when they otherwise behave well. Participate in an important research study for asthma and/or allergies and receive additional study-related healthcare and the latest medicines at no cost to your family. In addition, you will be advancing medical science for your child's condition while being compensated.
Nearly 1 out of 5 Americans suffer from allergies. Common culprits such as foods, animal dander, and indoor and outdoor allergens can cause symptoms that range from annoying to life threatening.
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a lung disease in which the lungs are damaged, mainly by tobacco smoke, making it hard to breathe. In COPD, the airways - the tubes that carry air in and out of your lungs - are partly obstructed, making it difficult to get air in and out.
Migraine is now recognized as a chronic illness, not simply as a headache. About 28 million people suffer from migraines annually, 75% of those are women.
