PowerBar/Nestlé Nutrition would like you to know that the allergen declaration format on PowerBar ProteinPlus Reduced Sugar Bar (chocolate peanut butter variety) labels will be changing.  There will no longer be a “Contains:” allergen statement on the product label.  All allergen declarations currently exist on the label ingredient statement and will remain as such. No changes have occurred in the product allergen content; this is a change to label format only. Product packaging with this change will be flowing out to the market October 2011.

McDonald’s is offering McFlurry desserts featuring Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, Butterfinger candies, and Snickers candies in select U.S. restaurants.  These products contain peanut butter or peanuts.

McDonald’s provided additional operations and crew training to help reduce the risk of cross-contact with other products in their restaurants. This includes dedicating special containers and scoops for these products.  However, all flavors of McFlurry desserts utilize the same equipment.

McDonald’s is also now offering Frozen Strawberry Lemonade product which is dispensed on equipment that also dispenses milk ingredients (specifically, yogurt).

McDonald’s wants to make customers with peanut allergies and with milk allergies aware of these products so they can make whatever decisions they deem appropriate when visiting McDonald’s restaurants.

MARS Chocolate North America would like you to know that the allergen advisory statement on its ice cream products has changed.  Selected MILKY WAY® and DOVE® Ice Cream Bars now include a “May Contain Peanuts, Almonds, and/or Cashews” statement due to use of shared equipment. In addition, SNICKERS® Ice Cream Bars now  include a “May Contain Wheat” statement due to use of shared equipment with wheat containing products.

Kraft Foods would like you to know that a change was recently made to the packaging for Baker’s Real Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chunks. Kraft Foods would like you to know that starting in March 2011, the allergen advisory statement for KRAFT Thousand Island Dressing indicates that this product contains egg.  The advisory statement, “This product contains egg,” on the front label, as well as the allergen information on the back label, will appear on all bottles of KRAFT Thousand Island Dressing.  In addition, the product now contains red bell peppers and a natural Thousand Island flavor.

Kashi Foods would like you to know that starting in May 2011, the allergen advisory statement for Kashi® TLC® All Natural Crunchy Granola Bars will indicate that this product may contain peanuts. The allergen advisory statement will now state “May Contain Peanuts and Other Tree Nuts.” This advisory statement will appear on all Kashi® TLC® All Natural Crunchy Granola Bars varieties: Honey Toasted 7-Grain, Pumpkin Spice Flax, and Roasted Almond Crunch.

General Mills would like you to know that Nature Valley Chewy Trail Mix Bars Dark Chocolate & Nut and Cranberry Pomegranate labels will be changing. No changes have occurred in the product allergen content; this is a change only to the advisory/cautionary “May Contain” statement on the label due to a change in the manufacturing location. Product packaging with the new “May Contain” statement will be on the market in March 2011.

As of March 1, The Hershey Company will begin producing the Hershey’s Kisses Milk Chocolates filled with Cherry Cordial Crème and Hershey’s Kisses Milk Chocolates filled with Caramel on a line that manufactures peanut-containing products. As a result, the following allergen statement is being added to the packages: “Allergy information: Manufactured on the same equipment that processes peanuts.”
During a transition period, both the original and relocated products will continue to be in the marketplace. The labels accurately reflect the ingredient and allergen information for the products. Therefore, read the labels carefully. It should be noted that the products also continue to contain milk and soy lecithin.

Pepperidge Farm has added some new cookies to their American Cookie Collection, and are reformulating or discontinuing others.
The reformulated cookies that have allergen changes have been flagged to alert consumers on the back of the bag, just under the fold-over area, and on the ingredient listing. A summary of changes include:

McDonald’s is offering a Frozen Strawberry Lemonade beverage in some U.S. restaurants as part of a market test. Following these market tests, this item may remain on menus in test markets and be added to restaurants on a national basis.

Please note that this product is dispensed on equipment that also dispenses milk ingredients (specifically, yogurt for McDonald’s Real Fruit Smoothies).
